Skills2Work is an EU-supported project focusing on labour market integration of recognized refugees in Belgium, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, and the United Kingdom. Employers play an essential role in the integration of refugees. The Skills2Work project explores the benefits and challenges of recognising migrants’ skills, knowledge and competencies; and subsequently recruiting and retaining a diverse workforce.
“Mentoring for Migrants” is a unique project launched by the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber in 2008. To date, nearly 1.800 mentoring pairs have been formed, and numerous mentees have already gained a foothold on the Austrian labour market, not least thanks to support from their mentors.
On World Refuge Day, held every year on June 20th, the world commemorates the strength and courage of these millions of persons forced to flee their homes and the compassion of those welcoming them. It is the perfect time to show that public opinion is behind these forcibly displaced families and to highlight the many positive aspects for both refugees and their countries of destinations.
Labour market integration is not easy for refugees and migrants. Liam Patuzzi gave some insights about the best ways to address the challenge of integrating migrants and refugees into the labour market.
