EU sanctions after the Kiev massacre

Yesterday, on the 20th of February, during an emergency summit in Brussels, the EU Foreign Ministers decided on sanctions, including visa restrictions and freezing of bank accounts of members of the Ukrainian government, deemed responsible for deadly violence in Ukraine.The unprecedented decision was taken after at least 39 people were killed yesterday in central Kiev.

The sanctions have not been implemented yet, as talks about a political solution are still ongoing. At the moment, it seems like President Viktor Yanukovich and the opposition are finally agreeing on a compromise.
